The Ice
Connection’s Developmental Program is designed to get boys and
girls, ages 4 through 12, interested in playing the sport of
hockey. Our head instructor is Coach Brad Posey, a lifelong
athlete, with 17 years of experience of playing hockey and 10
years of coaching. "We try our best to make each session fun
for the beginners, while they learn the basic skills they will
need to play at the next level. Top priority of the program is
focused on proper skating technique and working to help each
player become comfortable on their skates. Part of that comfort
zone is learning to get back up after a fall, and to bounce back
quickly. Other lessons focus on the skills of stick handling,
passing, and shooting. In addition to the physical skills of
the game, we introduce some mental aspects, such as off-sides
and team play. Work ethic is an important part of the
Developmental Program. All players are encouraged to do their
best and try their hardest at all times. In the end the most
important lesson we teach is that hockey is still just a game
and should be fun and enjoyable." |
